ER Triage
Emergency rooms, by their very nature, can have long patient wait times. At times, queues for check-in can take upwards of two hours, resulting in higher risk for those patients with life-critical symptoms. This long-wait time increases potential liability for the medical facility, as an ER patient with a heart condition, for example, can literally collapse in line before checking-in with a Triage nurse. As with all of the KioHealth solutions, there is the ability to customize the look and feel of the application. The ER Triage Solution can come with the following functionality:
- Patient Registration: Entry of name, DOB and other personal information to identify the patient (and the corresponding medical record) quickly. If it is a returning patient, the system will automatically populate previous responses for verification by the patient- decreasing overall check-in time and increasing patient throughput.
- Chief Complaints: Customized injury icons present the patient with options to identify their chief complaint. (pain, cuts, bone break, nausea, etc.)
- Body Pain Location Identification: A picture of the human body appears allowing patients to select their area of pain. (head, back, right leg, left arm, etc.)
- Medication and Dosage Formulary: Allows the patient to select those medications they currently take, including dosage, and include any medication allergies.
- Triage Queue Creator: Using prioritization techniques to calculate response results, the system will automatically triage patients based upon their responses- putting critical injuries (heart problems, severe head injuries, etc.) ahead of less life-threatening injuries. (sniffles, bug bites, etc.)
All patient registration information can be integrated with the existing HIS and sent to a triage nurse or ER doctor for validation and verification in the medical record.
